Grant Guidelines

 
The Grants Program is designed to promote the general welfare, health and education of the community served by the Rotary Club of Arlington.  All supported programs must demonstrate benefits to those who live within the service area of Arlington, Smokey Point/Lakewood and/or Darrington.
 
Each application requires organization information, a description of the organization and its project, a statement of goals and objectives of the project, an overview of the targeted beneficiaries, the total project budget and expected costs, the amount requested from Rotary Club of Arlington. and confirmation.
 
Applicants must currently be a tax exempt organization under the IRS code.  Grants are not awarded to private foundations or political groups.  Applications from faith-based organization are accepted, however, the program or project for which the application is made must not promote any religious agenda or favor one religious viewpoint over another.
 
Only one application per organization is permitted/per Rotary calendar year.  Only the Rotary Club of Arlington Grant Application will be considered. Grant applications are accepted on a rolling basis July 1st - June 30th each year, with grant selections being made quarterly. (see Grant Application for grant deadlines).
 
Grants are not automatically redistributed yearly; an application needs to be submitted within each fiscal year for which a grant is needed.  The Rotary fiscal year is July 1 to June 30.
 
Recipients will be required, within 30 days of completion, to advise the Rotary Club of completion and provide any additional information requested by the Club. Failure will result in non-eligibility for future grants.
 
Each applicant will provide one name and contact of a Rotary Club of Arlington Member Liaison who is familiar with the organization.
 
Each applicant will provide a copy of the organization’s tax exempt letter from the IRS.
 
Each applicant will agree to credit the Rotary Club of Arlington in any publication of results of said project and acknowledge the Rotary Club of Arlington for their funding and support.
 
All funds granted, not used for the project, shall be returned to the Rotary Club of Arlington.
 

 

FUNDING RESTRICTIONS

The Rotary Club of Arlington Grant Program will not provide funding for:
  • Section 509(a)(3) – Type III supporting organizations
  • Private foundations
  • Retroactive funding
  • Endowments, memorial, or membership campaigns
  • Fundraising events, sponsorships, marketing materials or purposes
  • Organizations that discriminate based on race, ethnicity, color, sex, religion, age, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, disability, marital status, genetic information, veteran status, unless the discrimination is allowed by law as an exception. 
  • Programs operated by religious organizations for religious purposes.
  • Political organizations or organizations designed primarily to lobby.
  • Deficit reduction
  • Requests from schools that have not coordinated the request with their central school district, university administration, or fundraising arm
 
REVIEW PROCESS
 
Except for emergencies, the Rotary Club of Arlington has a two-step review process that, depending on the grant cycle, generally takes 6 weeks from the initial inquiry to grant approval or declination.
  • All proposals are reviewed by members of the Grant Review Committee and a member of that committee may contact you to request additional information. The Grant Review Committee makes its recommendations to the Board of Directors.
  • Grant Review Committee recommendations are then placed on the agenda for consideration and vote by the club’s Board of Directors. Organization’s requesting funds will be notified of the Board’s decision by email or phone within one week of the Board of Directors Meeting.
