Interact Club Launched at Arlington High School

Through the efforts of our youth programs chair, Lyanne Rolf, a Rotary Interact Club is about to be chartered at Arlington High School.  Our club is the sponsor and a faculty advisor, Chad Duskin, the Spanish teacher at the High School has been recruited.  Chad, the son of Rotarian Dale Duskin, is very familiar with Rotary youth programs, particularly the Youth Exchange Program.  Dale's family hosted Rotary exchange students and while Chad was in high school he spent a year in Chili living with the family of an exchange student hosted by the Duskins.

The AHS Interact Club has held its organizational meeting recently and 18 students showed an interest and Lyanne is confident that the 15 members necessary to charter the club is joining the club.  A charter may be issued next week.

Interact is a club for young people ages 12-18 who want to join together to tackle the issues in their community that they care most about. Interact clubs:

  • Carry out hands-on service projects
  • Make international connections
  • Develop leadership skills
  • Have fun!

Every Interact club carries out two service projects a year: one that helps their school or community and one that promotes international understanding.

Interact clubs meet at least twice a month. For those who would like to join, contact the club to find out about its next meeting, service project, or social event.  You can contact either Lyanne Rolf, lyanne@comcast.net, or Chad Duskin, cduskin@asd.wednet.edu

The club has a Face Book site and will soon have a site page on this website.  Here is a link to Face Book: AHS Interact.
