Mark Cerasuolo, marketing and training director for Outback Power Technologies, spoke to our club. 
 
Outback Power converts an energy source into useable electricity.  They make batteries, converters, charge controllers, etc.  Recently became a leader in battery power.  Members of the Alpha Group out of Bellingham which is a group of independent companies creating world-class power solutions.
 
Outback Power is involved in a training program where students receive a certificate on systems technologies, design, and installation.
 
Outback Power is part of the Masters of the Off-Grid and first choice for the new grid – leader in grid/hybrid and hybrid technology, products solutions.  First choice for mission critical installations.  NASA selected them for projects.  First choice of the Marine Corps.
 
Outback Power reaches out to end users via advertising efforts in building and earth magazines.
Customers say Outback is flexible, easy to install, durable, high quality, etc.
 
In the village power systems sub-segment, Outback Power Technologies is by far and away the leading vender. 
SmartHarvest by Outback Power Technologies is a line of technology only sold in India to take people off the grid or as back up if the grid goes down.
 
Green “Wanna-Bees” in USA typically turn to solar energy.  In other parts of the world solar and off-grid are the only ways to power remote areas.
 
By 2035 industry expectation is that solar will surpass coal.  The cost of solar will come down.  We are close to $1 per watt.  Jobs in the solar industry are increasing.  150,000 solar installations per year, estimated.
 
California uses the most solar energy.  Great incentives for solar in CA is high electricity costs.  Washington is the most expensive state for solar because our electricity is so cheap.  Florida is the cheapest.
 
50% of homeowners are interested in battery backup power.  Battery prices have fallen over the last five years.  Energy storage technology has the potential to be a game changer for energy.  Harvest solar power during the day and use at night when electricity is more expensive. 
  
50-100% more expensive to have an energy storage backup installed with a solar system. 
 
Outback sells to distributors who sells to installers.  Outback systems are in other countries, celebrities homes, small rural communities, farms, etc.
