Tayler Hoftell – Darrington (Darrington HS)    Paying it Forward to    N.O.A.H.

Tayler Hoftell is currently a senior at Darrington High School. She is the valedictorian of her class, an all-state athlete, a responsible employee and a conscientious community member. She is hardworking, focused and ambitious.

Tayler has played a prominent role as a starting player on the Darrington varsity volleyball team for four years. She has received 3 all-league titles including 1st team her senior year. She also received recognition on the Washington All-State volleyball team. During four years of high school she has assisted her team in winning two 3rd place state trophies and two 8th place state trophies. She strives for success on and off the volleyball court.

Tayler has worked diligently throughout her high school career to maintain excellence in her academics. She boasts an incredible 4.0 GPA, the highest in her class. During the fall of her senior year, Tayler also received recognition by the Everett Herald in a “Super Kid” article highlighting high achieving students throughout Snohomish County. Tayler will be taking her knowledge and hard work to the next level in the fall. She will be attending the University of Washington to study bioengineering.

Tayler is also very involved in school organizations and clubs. She is the President of her FBLA club and vice president of her national honor society chapter. She is also a member of her school’s Knowledge Bowl team and Darrington High School’s ASB sergeant of arms.

One of Tayler’s main objectives is to help out her community and those in need. During the winter of this year she sought out to help the Cocoon House of Everett, a homeless shelter for at risk youth. She filled Christmas stockings with hygiene items, winter wear, small gifts and gift cards to give to the teenagers. She also spent over 120 hours helping out during the Oso Mudslide last year. Tayler is very dedicated to her community and always reaches out a hand when in need.

“Tayler Hoftell works harder than any student I have ever taught, hands down. I have had the privilege of teaching Tayler in Advanced English and Leadership classes as well as advising her in ASB and coaching her in volleyball. She has never turned in an assignment, volunteered for an activity or participated in a match, that wasn’t completed with her very best effort; when Tayler accepts an obligation, she completes it with distinction. Tayler has unique qualities not often found in teenagers that make her an asset to any situation. She is passionate, diligent, and assertive about her commitment to learning. It is not often that a young adult demands excellence without being required, or needs little direction or pressure to complete a task. Tayler has developed intrinsic inspiration and is able to motivate herself internally without regard to the task’s reward.”
