e-NABLE
Jan. 14, 2016
The e-NABLE Community is an amazing group of individuals from all over the world who are using their 3D printers to create free 3D printed hands and arms for those in need of an upper limb assistive device. They are people who have put aside their political, religious, cultural and personal differences – to come together and collaborate on ways to help improve the open source 3D printable designs for hands and arms for those who were born missing fingers or who have lost them due to war, disease or natural disaster. The e-NABLE Community is made up of teachers, students, engineers, scientists, medical professionals, tinkerers, designers, parents, children, scout troops, artists, philanthropists, dreamers, coders, makers and every day people who just want to make a difference and help to “Give The World A Helping Hand.” |

Cocoon House Update and "Take a Closer Look" campaign.
Jan. 28, 2016
Cocoon House is a non-profit that conducts outreach to, and provides short and long term housing for homeless and at-risk young people, including their children. Parents of teens can also find support for themselves and their families at Cocoon House so that young people do not become homeless. We have supported it in the past at its annual fundraising auction and we helped with establishing its shelter in Arlington. |

Jan. 28, 2016 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
The Arlington Community Resource Center is hosting the first annual North County Homeless Resource Fair in connection with the annual HUD Point In Time Count. The PIT Count is an annual HUD mandated event for those communities that receive or will apply for funding to assist with housing/homeless programs. Volunteers interview homeless individuals for approximately 5-10 minutes and complete a survey/census form (taking the “Count”). The count serves as a a census of the homeless in one single 24 hour period each January and is planned, coordinated, and carried out locally. Snohomish County is divided into 4 sections, we are the North County lead for this year's count. Our area covers Granite Falls, Marysville, Tulalip, Arlington, Darrington, Stanwood, and Camano Island (even though it is Island Co.). We have partnered with Housing Hope and they are coordinating the 150+ volunteers while we are hosting the resource fair where all volunteers will start their journey. At the resource fair, the homeless will come in for meals, clothing, grab bags of items, health and dental checks, entertainment, etc., and to be "counted". At the request of Bruce Stedman, our club is financing identification head wear for volunteers to wear while making the count as a safety measure. |
