Invasive species and alien plants sounds like the working title for a Stephen King novel. Prickly Blackberries grow 7 metres a season in few years you could be trapped in your house surrounded by blackberries, snakehead fish and Bullfrogs. Scary stuff.
A great presentation by Nancy Clark alerted us to the abundance of Invasive Species of plants and alien plants and creatures we should be aware of in our Gardens. That gorgeous hanging basket could be full of invasive plants waiting to overcome your garden.
Now we know why we have those Big GREEN BINS courtesy of the city of Surrey so we can rid our gardens of these plants.
But as Nancy pointed out they are relentless in their growth and you have to be vigilant in assessing of all the products you introduce to your garden or fish pond. (play music from JAWS)
