Rebecca is the Executive Director of the Surrey Hospice Society. Surrey Hospice Society supports those facing the end of their lives in Surrey’s Residential Hospice, at Surrey Memorial Hospital and also those who choose to stay in their homes. The Society also provides grief and bereavement support to all citizens of Surrey. The Society operates a thrift store in Newton and is opening another, unique store in Cloverdale in November 2017.

Rebecca is also a small business owner, long-time local activist and advocate.  She has a multifaceted professional background with over 19 years of serving the Not-for-profit world and fortune 500 companies. Rebecca earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science, is certified in Public Relations, Financial Planning and also pursued her Master’s degree in Business Administration (Marketing & Global Management). With conversational ability to speak French, and Spanish, Rebecca has studied Mandarin and is currently learning Punjabi.

Deeply committed to the community she lives in, and a resident of the area for over 34 years Rebecca has always believed in service, standing up, speaking up, and participating. A past president and founding member of BullyFree BC, she is a passionate advocate for social justice, education, health care and mental health in British Columbia. She currently sits on the Board of the Cloverdale Chamber of Commerce and is the past Chair of the non-partisan organization Canadian Women Voters Congress, which encourages, educates and promotes political literacy for women in Canada.

No doubt you will have seen Rebecca out and about in the community, networking, promoting Surrey Hospice Society, their two stores, and fighting for local issues. She is proud of her flourishing bee and butterfly garden, as well as her fruit and vegetable patch that helps provide seasonal food to those who need it.
