REGULAR MEETING with Yolanda Bouwman

Yolanda Bouwman ,Director Major Gifts with the Surrey Hospital and Outpatient Centre
Foundation. Will be updating us with changes to Surrey Memorial Hospital.

We will also have a check presentation of our recent Donation .

Yolanda is a graduate of the University of Alberta’s Medical Laboratory Science BSc program.  After 10 years of working with high tech equipment, test tubes and laminar flow hoods, she moved over to the ‘people side’ of health care to build relationships with grateful patients and other engaged community leaders to raise money for hospitals, thereby ensuring ongoing excellence in care for patients.  In terms of fundraising, she has worked for the Alzheimer Society of BC, St. Paul’s Hospital and Mount Saint Joseph Hospital (Tapestry Foundation).

Previous to working in the charitable sector, Yolanda worked in the financial planning field, maintaining her Certified Financial Planning (CFP) designation for a number of years.  During those years, she was privileged to meet many ordinary folks who were making an extraordinary difference to their communities through donations because of philanthropic planning and passion.  These people ignited her interest in working in the non-profit sector.  

Early in 2014, she moved her residence to the Surrey Central area of our city.  When asked if she misses living in Vancouver, she happily says, “Absolutely not.  I love the eclectic nature of Surrey and the many diverse cultures that live together in this city.”
