Our guests this week were our speaker, Jim Millar and former member Chris Vowell..who dropped by for a visit before heading to Europe for two months..most of the time he will be visiting family in England.  We had no birthdays or anniversaries to celebrate.  Announcements included an update from Peter about progress on Search for the Perfect Pint.  Pete had 3 cheques in his hand that have just arrived in the mail..great work Peter!  Gayle has tickets so please let her know if you can take some to sell.  PE Patty also spoke briefly about PETS and the excitement of being part of such a great event.
Gary also passed on a request from the Pub...you will see a Countdown clock (To St Patrick's Day) and we need to be careful not to unplug it....it is really hard to re-set it it!

Dan Gallant presented a Rotary Moment for the decade of the 1940's.  The decade began with all the hardships of war but Rotary perservered and continued to grow...we can all take pride in knowing that Rotary was at the table when the United Nations was formed after WW2...and we continue to hold peace as a fundamental objective of our organization.

Jim Millar was introduced by President Trudy and thanked by President Elect Patty. He acknowledged the support from the City that has allowed the Museum to continue its efforts to keep our local history alive but explained that most small museums are facing significant pressures and are at risk of failing within the next decade or so.  Our "little train car" museum offers a variety of
different activities to stay relevant to the community..like the recent WW1 Trench project and the upcoming and very popular annual Easter Egg Hunt.  Jim also mentioned that they are trying to encourage both school groups and seniors to visit the museum and enjoy the displays, programs and in season, the little garden adjacent.  When was the last time you were at the Museum? Maybe we should get a group together for the next Tea?  Anyone like to join in?

The other big happening of course was the Induction of our newest member Bill Lawrie.  Gary is Bill's sponsor and he introduced him to to the Club and PE Patty, PP Alan and formerly newest Club member Jeannie led the induction ceremony.  Bill has already been a huge contributor to the Search for the Perfect Pint and is also working on RibFest...we are very lucky to have him with us.  Please take some time to get to know Bill  and to continue to make him feel welcome....we are so happy to have you with us Bill!
