One of Rotary's best kept secrets?  Rotary Fellowships!!

Rotarian Marc Baker traveled a long way to be our spteaker today..he is from the Rotary Club of Everett! But the most interesting thing is that he came via motorcycle..but knowing that Marc is a member of the IFMR ..the Motorcyling Fellowship, helps explain this mode of transport.

A Rotarian since 1980, Marc has chaired a variety of Club committees, served on his Club's Board and was Club President in 1999-2000.  At the District level, he has been equally involved:  Chair of World Community Service, Matching Grants, Group Study Exchange to Turkey in 2007, Alumni and District Conference AV chair.  He has also received other recognition for his support of TRF and for his comittment to service.

An avid Motorcyclist since 1969..Marc helped found the Rotary Fellowship for other enthusiasts in 1990.  Sometimes known as "Hell's Rotarians-The Mild Ones "..Marc has ridden to RI conventions in Calgary, Indianapolis, San Antonio, Portland and New Orleans.  In 2011, the groups ride raised over $10,000 for Polio Plus.  His last trip also took him through Atlantic Canada.

Membership in this group of fun seeking, adventurous Rotarians has led Marc to connections in Europe, Australia and all over North America. But as explained, this opportunity is not limited to those of us who love Motorcycles..Fellowships are many and varied..including everything from stamp collection to house exchange...are you a quilter? keen on the environment, love computers, enjoy running, reading or flying? There is likely a fellowship for you and if not..you can always start one!

Fellowships operate independently of Rotary International and are open to all Rotarians, their spouses and Rotarators!  What a great and unexpected benefit or membership in Rotary...you never know..one day you might pull over in a Rest stop near Everett and happen across a young man from Germany who is travelling by motorcycle around North America..and he could be the very same Stephan - a Rotarian that you had emailed with about his trip so many months before..great things happen with Rotary Fellowships!
