Marana Parks Department

Jim Conroy, is the Parks and Recreation Director for the Town of Marana. The Department has 58 full time positions with an annual operating budget of $5.8 million dollars. The Marana Parks and Recreation Department is made up of a diverse inventory of both Natural Resource Parks, Urban Parks and an extensive trail system.

As a Parks and Recreation professional, Jim has a diverse background in master plan development, parks maintenance, special event planning, recreation program planning, trail planning and development, public speaking and as a professional mentor.

Jim has built a career as Parks & Recreation professional developing relationships and partnerships to better serve the community.

Jim will be joined by his Deputy, Wayne Barnett, who is a University of Arizona graduate. He has a strong background in managing community recreation facilities and programs, events, and park maintenance operations. In his role as Deputy Director of Marana Parks and Recreation, he works closely with staff to manage daily department operations, budgeting, and Capital Improvement Projects.

Wayne places an emphasis on staff development. He is a Certified Parks and Recreation Executive. He currently serves as the Vice President of the Arizona Parks and Recreation Asssociation, and will complete his term on the board as the President in 2024.

Wayne has spent his career sharing the benefits of recreation, and advocates for activities and facilities that promote wellness opportunities for all.
