ImageRecognizing the need to help the homeless in Los Angeles, the Playa Venice Sunrise Rotary Club set up an outing to the downtown Midnight Mission in Skid Row. Additionally we collected and brought needed supplies. The event was very well attended by Club members.

We were greeted by a Mission volunteer who had come through the program. He gave us an in depth tour of the facility and educated us on the Missions goals. We delivered over 24 cases of water, and a great amount of clothing, toiletries, toothbrushes, toothpaste, towels and paper and pens. In addition to feeding and providing shelter to the homeless, they have a drug rehab program with a goal to rehabilitate young men and ti reintroduce them to the work force.

After the tour we put on aprons, hair nets and gloves to set up, serve, bus tables and clean up meal service for 500Image people. We are planning on similar outings twice a year.

Club members finished the evening by treating ourselves to a great meal with warm fellowship at Philippe's famous Restaurant.
