The Winners: Michelle May (First Prize) & Rose Knight (Second Prize)

Audrey Dahlgren began the program by introducing Adam Wolven, counselor at Palos Verdes Peninsula High School.  He set up his computer and the projector to present brief dance videos by each of the 7 dance contestants.

Then each contestant was introduced, and presented a summary of her/his dancing history and the performance to be shown.  Many of them have been dancing for 13 years.

Representing Palos Verdes Peninsula High School were Christopher Lucas (modern dance), Michelle May (tap dance), and Rie Fukushima (modern dance).  From Palos Verdes High School were Mara Conway (Irish dance), Rose Knight (ballet), and Alexa Rogalski (Nutcracker Suite).  From Chadwick was Morah Geist (modern ballet based on the French 1890s life of Camille Claudel and her affair with French sculptor Auguste Rodin).

Our judging committee calculated the points for each contestant, and announced the winners: Michelle May was awarded First Prize, $100 and entry into the District Competition on March 1 at Loyola Marymount University.  Rose Knight was awarded Second Prize, $50.  We thank all of the contestants for their effort and complement them on their talent.
