Holiday Spirit
Wearing his red Christmas sweater and glowing with good cheer, President Les “Holly Jolly” Fishman opened the meeting.  Bruce Attig led us in the invocation.  Kjell “Super Patriot” Hellburg, led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.  John “Fingers” Schuricht, tickled the ivories for My Country ‘Tis of Thee.  We’re still trying to figure out what “tis” means.
Some trivia from Wikipedia:
"My Country, 'Tis of Thee", also known as "America", is an American patriotic song, whose lyrics were written by Samuel Francis Smith.[2] The melody used is the same as that of the national anthem of the United Kingdom, "God Save the Queen", arranged by Thomas Arne. The song served as one of the de facto national anthems of the United States (along with songs like "Hail, Columbia") before the adoption of "The Star-Spangled Banner" as the official anthem in 1931.[3]
We were then treated to Christmas carols and holiday songs by the 6th grade chorus from Chadwick – a wonderful way to get us in the holiday spirit.
While Les was full of good cheer, he was not possessed of good memory skills.  He didn’t remember that before you sing the welcome song you have to actually introduce our guests.  So this intrepid reporter saved the day – introducing Hang Up Moon’s guests Dr. Henry Lee, Mrs. Julie Lee, and Mrs. Michelle Moon (Hang Up’s lovely wife).

Les reminded everyone that the holiday party will be on December 17th and asked folks to get their checks for guests in right away.   Next Friday’s meeting will be at the Rolling Hills County Club.  Carol Woodruff’s services will be December 21st at St Peter’s by the Sea at 2 pm.
Then the big excitement came with the Raffle.  M.J. “Had Too Much Wine” Schoenheider was the first lucky winner – but she graciously declined the wine and another ticket was drawn.  This time Keith “Sleight of Hand” Diesenroth claimed the wine – but it was noted that he claimed it using Paul Rubincam’s ticket.  Then the next ticket drawn was once again Paul’s ticket.  Keith graciously declined Paul’s second bottle of wine.  So Greg “The Judge” O’Brien was the last lucky winner.
The Prez then released us early – so we could start our holiday merry making in earnest.
