Johnson, National Scoring Chair, has been the chief recorder and scoring chair at the Olympics since 1996, and worked her first Games in Los Angeles in 1984. She has served in those positions at four FINA World Championships, five FINA World Masters Championships and three FINA World Cups. She officiated at four Pan American Games and four U.S. Olympic Trials. 

Johnson developed, with IBM, scoring programs for synchronized swimming, created scoring forms for the FINA handbook and developed a section of scoring resources for the USA Synchro website. She is a member of the Synchronized Swimming Hall of Fame and earned a FINA Certificate of Merit in 2005. Johnson was a FINA presenter at a 2002 Chief Recorder clinic in Dallas.
