The Sunshine Coast Community Chapter of KidSport was officially launched
in November, 2008 and to date has supported over 46 kids on the Sunshine
Coast in registration fees for organized sports. The KidSport Chapter
provides up to $200 in registration fees for a child in one sport in one
calendar year.
KidSport Sunshine Coast is able to increase the number of kids from Port
Mellon to Earls Cove who will be taking to the fields and rinks this year,
as a result of the generosity of the Rotarians on the Sunshine Coast.
Sam Simpson, President of the Rotary Club of Gibsons, presented Co-Chair
Carol Duff with a cheque in the amount of $2,000 at a recent Rotary
meeting. This contribution was designated as a community donation from the
Club.
Carol Duff comments, "I feel very proud about living in a community that
supports our local youth! The Rotarians' generosity is going to help at
least 10 more kids on the Coast So ALL Kids Can Play!"
KidSport is a national program and the realization of programs and funding
lies in the hands of the community. KidSport BC oversees 28 Community
Chapters, like KidSport Sunshine Coast, and has 260 direct volunteers who
work tirelessly to provide opportunities for children all over the
province to get in the game. For more information on how you can support
KidSport, contact Co-Chairs Carol Duff and Diane Wagner.,
