Rotary Million Dollar Hole in One - Starfish Support - one golf ball at a time!

Rotary Million Dollar Hole in One, Saturday, May 28th through Sunday, June 5th, Fraserglen Golf Course

(Abbotsford, BC):  The Rotary Club of Abbotsford is pleased to announce that since 1998 our annual fundraiser, Rotary Million Dollar Hole in One, has raised over one half million dollars.

Since its inception, the event has focused on raising funds for local charitable organizations.  This year the Rotary Club will shift its focus to the Abbotsford Starfish Program.

“This is an exciting shift for the Rotary Club of Abbotsford” says President Leslie McConnell. “Raising funds for hungry children to improve student success is important to our community.  We are thankful to our sponsors and supporters who join us in meeting our goals.”

The inaugural backpack program in Abbotsford is in year three with close to 300 students being served. The interest in the program has expanded across the Valley and further into other areas of the Province as it proves to be a low cost beneficial program ultimately assisting in student success.   Visit www.starfishpack.com for more information.

Dave Murray, Executive Director and champion for the Starfish Pack program, was pleased to hear the news. He said he is “… so excited … this vital Food Bank program that feeds a large group of vulnerable children in our community (has been chosen).  We are looking forward to seeing the tangible difference healthy food makes in each of their lives.  We want to express our profound thanks to the Abbotsford Rotarians who have supported this program from the very beginning.  Without your extremely generous support of finances…enthusiasm and encouragement many children in our community would not have as much hope as they do today.”

This year’s goal is to raise $50,000 in net proceeds during the nine-day event being held Saturday, May 28th through Sunday, June 5th (finals).

Back again this year!  Ladies Finals was such a popular event we are bringing it back – this time for two days, doubling the chance to qualify!    Up to 25 women will compete in the final round on June 5th.  Of the 25, the top three will shoot 135 yards for $100,000, with the top qualifier moving to the final shootout at 165 yards for a possible $1,000,000 dollars, along with the top three of the traditional finals.  (Rules apply). Regular finals apply for all qualifiers.

Event expenses are covered by our cash and in-kind sponsors. The use of the driving range for the nine (9) day event is graciously provided by Fraserglen Golf Course & Training Centre.

Each day we have six top qualifiers and six random draws sharing over more than $30,000 in prizes awarded through the eight days leading up to the finals on Sunday, June 5th

All members of the public are welcome to attend on any day.  Special event days include:

Ladies Day, Wednesday, June 1st and Friday, June 3rd.
