This Fireside is a fun way for our members and their spouses to get to know each other better and enjoy fellowship. Several Rotarians will be hosting dinners in their homes. The host provides the main course. The Tuesday prior to the dinner, those who sign up will receive an e-mail telling each guest where they will be dining! As a guest, you will provide one of the component of the meal: Salad, Dessert, or Bread/Wine. If you are interested in being a host, please contact Lainie Dreas. Lainie will need to know the entree you will serve. |

In the next five years, the number of Anchorage seniors who are over 75 years of age is expected to increase by 35 percent. Will there be adequate housing for those 12,000+ seniors? What are the needs, and who is looking to fill them? Come hear about three innovative projects that are in various stages of completion or planning to address the growing need for different types of senior housing in our city. Speakers will include Becky Parker, general manager of Anchorage Senior Activity Center; Mike McCormack, board chair of Thomas Center; and Joe Josephson, president of Congregation Beth Shalom. Lunch will be delivered to the Senior Center and you may pay with your Rotary lunch card, cash or check as always. We need for you to sign up as we will need to order you lunch. We also need for you to attend if you do sign up as we will have ordered lunches based on sign-ups. |

What is a RAK? A Random Act of Kindness is a selfless act performed by kind people to either help or cheer up a random stranger, for no reason other than to make people happier. The Sunshine RAK is a once-a-month event where Rotarians complete small community service acts throughout the city. The activities can be planned, sort-of-planned, or be completely on-the-fly randomness based on the group of volunteers and the community needs for that week. When? Rotary will hold a monthly get-together on the first Saturday of each month, for this month that is December 3rd at 10 am. Our intent is for the activity to only take one hour or less so we do not impact your weekend. All Rotarians are encouraged to complete RAKs around our community throughout the month! Where? We’ll meet at Steam Dot at the Sears Mall to coordinate our efforts and then move out into the community. Plus, all activities are better when they’re started with a good cup of coffee. Who Can Attend? Everyone is welcome! Bring your kids or anyone else looking to score some cosmic karma. No RSVP required, remember that it’s random! What Should You Bring? If you have an idea for a RAK for that week, bring something that will help out with the activity. Bring warm clothes as the RAK might be outside. Or just show up and we’ll figure out something! We have some great ideas on events we can do as part of the RAK movement. More on that in the coming weeks! Contact Craig Fredeen for more information: craigfredeen@pdceng.com
