On August 10, 2019, Bob Hermann, Dan Joraanstad, Sunny Singh, Phyllis Nusz, and Frank Yoke from our Club attended the District Learning and Leadership Development Seminar about The Rotary Foundation held at the Bay Model in Sausalito. The enthusiasm in the room was clearly evidenced by a full room of attendees from District 5150.

The objectives of the meeting were simply to provide the audience with an understanding of how District 5150 plays a role in both The Rotary Foundation as well as supporting local and international projects. For some of us, myself included, it gave us insights as to how giving money to the TRF fund comes back to the District in a 3-year period enabling us to continue the much needed support to projects.

Additionally, the day concentrated on various giving opportunities that a Rotarian can and could do, be it becoming a Paul Harris Fellow, providing a long range legacy promise, making a bequest, or for those who have the financial wherewithal, becoming an Arch Klumpf Society member. There were ample opportunities to learn from others, why they participate and give, no matter what level.

In summary, the takeaway is that each of us has an opportunity to give of our time, our talents, and where we can, our financial support to both our local Rotary Club and the Rotary Foundation. The seminar was really well attended and organized, and it was wonderful to hear from our District 5150 Foundation Chair and Past District Governor Jayne Hulbert and our current District Governor Sue Rokaw.
