Hidden behind most of the noise heard about the cryptocurrency/Bitcoin and Blockchain technologies are the possibilities that they hold to improve the lives of underserved, disenfranchised, and victimized communities.

This talk will not describe the technologies behind cryptocurrencies and Blockchain, it will explain particular cases of how they can be used to effect social change.

Bebo is a Departmental Associate (Emeritus) at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory operated by Stanford University. He also holds faculty positions at multiple institutions and is a frequent speaker on topics in high-energy physics and computer science. His latest challenge is that of becoming a productive Rotarian: Bebo joined our Club just a few months ago!

This is a weekly membership meeting for The Rotary Club of San Francisco, open to all Rotarians, visiting Rotarians, prospective members, and guests.

Each luncheon ticket includes a three-course lunch. Tickets for Club members are $35 each; $30 if you register online in advance. Non-member tickets are $40 each. Payment by credit card or check is preferred. Tickets available for purchase only at the door.
