We were all aboard on the Michigan Princess Riverboat on this brisk autumn day. At 12:25 President Sue gathered our attention to begin the meeting.

Pat Munshaw delivered an inspirational invocation from Mother Theresa. We all joined in singing America (My Country Tis of Thee) for our patriotic song.

Kim Garland circulated the microphone for the introduction of guests which included Barb Lizotte introducing her husband, Patrick Miller.

Diane Sanborn announced that the health of the Club is good.

Our Captain and speaker, Chris Chamberlain talked to us as we cruised the river about the fascinating history of the Michigan Princess Riverboat and he and his father’s entrepreneurial spirit and love for boating. The boat is in its 30th year operating out of Grand River Park.

He shared some of the history of the Grand River, including the fact that there was an amusement park that was very popular due to early use of electric light bulbs – that is until Lake Lansing Park put in a rollercoaster.

His family’s boat endeavors included a Potter Park canoe rental, the Detroit Princess which holds 1900 people. He shared the zany story of his most recent endeavor which was delivered during the COVID-19 shut down on a stolen trailer and was damaged en route. This has become a non-profit project that provides water access for donations in Harbor Springs, Petoskey, and Bay Harbor and has provided 10,000 rides in the last 2 years.

President Sue thanked Captain Chamberlain for his great presentation and shared that the Club will make a donation in his name to our foundation.
