Rotary, UNICEF, and Ebola
About 16,000 children have lost one or both parents to Ebola; UNICEF is reuniting them with a surviving parent or helping to find extended family. It's a huge undertaking. UNICEF also matches Ebola survivors, with children who have been exposed, to take care of them during the 21-day incubation period. UNICEF worked with governments and other partners to create that match-up, and it was brilliant. It's a remarkable program. Rotarians are leaders in their communities. They are influencers. There is an opportunity for them to join with UNICEF and say the best investment we can make in this world is an investment in our children. By Caryl Stern head of the US Fund of UNICEF from the August issue of the Rotarian.

A very proper English lady, making plans for an inexpensive visit to the United States, wrote to a make a reservation to a United Methodist Campground.  She ended the letter saying she preferred accommodation as close as possible to a W.C. When the campground owner received the letter, he couldn't  figure out what she meant by "W.C." He showed it to several of  the campers, one of whom suggested the lady was obviously referring to Wesley Chapel that was nearby in the town.   So he sent this reply.
Dear Madam:
It may surprise you to know that our W.C. holds over two hundred persons per sitting. It is a good idea to go as early as possible in order to get a good seat, as sometimes standing room only is available, and is especially hard on some of the older ladies. On Sundays, a good number of people take picnic lunches and make a day of it. Others take a bus or horse carriage and usually arrive only just in time. I would recommend Madam arrange to go on Thursday evenings when there is organ accompaniment. Although the building dates back to the 17th Century, the acoustics are excellent and even the most delicate sounds may be heard in the halls. We are very proud of our unusual bell, donated by a wealthy visitor, which rings every time someone makes an offering. In conclusion, we hope your visit with us will be most happy, so please let me know if you wish a seat reserved for you for the season at the WC. There is a service charge but it will ensure you an upholstered seat. We suggest you bring your camera as the evening candle lighting ceremony in the WC is very colorful and it’s a beautiful sight to see the light playing on the fountains.

Some come with cheer – some with charity – but all leave satisfied. Signed, Camp Director
