More than Just Beautiful: Promoting World Peace Through Cranes
 
Hall Healy, former chairman of the International Crane Foundation in Baraboo, WI, is trying to save rare crane species in North Korea by training farmers to plant sustainable crops and give the leftovers to the craines.  His talk, "An Alternative to Nukes on the Korean Peninsula" will show how volunteerism and a small amount of funding can have a big impact on the environment.
 
Healy will talk about the International Crane Foundation crane habitat restoration and sustainable farming project that has been going on since 2008. This is the kind of project can be used to help improve dialogue between countries like North and South Korea an promote Rotary's ideal of world peace.
 
Healy, a resident of Glencoe, was the chairman of the International Crane Foundation from 2010 to 2014.  The Foundation is dedicated to preserving the fifteen species of cranes and their habitats on five continents.
