President Cynthia Plouché opened the meeting with th Pledge of Allegiance and singing "God Bless America".

Karen Dennis reminded the Club that January 7th we will be participating in the dinner at St. James Church. We are going to need 15-20 volunteers to help deliver food, set up and serve.

Karen also wanted to make the Club aware of the MYA Alumni concert on Sunday December 27th at 6 p.m. at the Bennett Gordon Hall in Ravinia. The concert is free.

News from Joanne Gordon! She is getting better and is very grateful for the outpouring of best wishes from her fellow Rotarians. Joanne hopes you understand that she is still unable to respond to cards and emails at this time. In a few days, she will be moved to a rehabilitation center in Evanston to continue her recovery. She would love visitors, but her therapy sessions will be lengthy, so best to check with her before coming. As soon as we know any other information we will be sure to pass it on.

We continue to wish Joanne a speedy recovery!

The Day's Program
Robert Beezat, our guest speaker, is the author of Knowing and Loving: the Key to Real Happiness.  It contains practical ideas and suggestions for attaining happiness; proposes a new world-view to help resolve conflict between faith and reason; and that love is an equal partner with reason in developing a new synthesis for action in the 21st Century. His book gives people a foundation for understanding the basic questions of reality so that when they make choices on how to live their lives in order to be happy, they will make those choices based on what it means to be a happy and flourishing human being.

He spoke to the Club reaffirming the positive things that happen in the world - in our small corner through Rotary and other groups everyday. Also in searching for meaning and happiness, Mr. Beezat shared the keys:  Love someone.  Help Someone.  Pray for Someone.  Enrich Your Mind.  Share Your Wisdom.  Grow Your Heart and Mind Everyday.

Happy Holidays Everyone!  Thank you for sharing your year with me,
Mary Beth Bretzlauf
