Today's speaker, Aaron Rosenblum, grew up with a father stricken with multiple sclerosis (MS). For 29 years, Mark Rosenblum has endured fatigue, limited mobility, muscle spasms and countless MS symptoms and relapses. His involvement in finding a cure not just for himself but for the other 4 million people world wide suffering from this disease, has led to the creation of Rosey's MS Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization. Local business support includes Rick's Auto, Abt Appliance and others.
Devoted to finding a cure for multiple sclerosis and other related auto-immune diseases, 100% of the money goes to Dr Stephen Miller and his research team at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine (Dept of Microbiology-Immunology). Dr. Miller has signed with Takeda Pharmaceuticals to develop a tolerance therapy for celiac disease, another auto-immune disease, which the foundation hopes will pave the way for MS trials in patients in the near future. Currently the only treatments available slow the progress of the disease and help to manage the symptoms. There is no cure, yet.
A garden walk fundraiser is planned at the Chicago Botanic Gardens for Sunday July 31st. For more information, here is a link to their website:roseysmsfoundation.org
