The Day's Program

Brad Swanson is founder and co-director of SaLT Student Travel along with Ida Fiore, a co-director. Ida has been facilitating educational student trips for over twenty years.

SaLT Student Travel combines meaningful educational programming, significant service activities and exciting local attractions of unique world class locations. Students are engaged in rewarding experiences that directly benefit the local community, expand their personal knowledge, and challenge their current understanding of societal needs. Students create long lasting relationships as they have the unique opportunity to work side-by-side with friends for a common purpose greater than themselves.

Allie SmithItxel Limon, and Abby Reinstein(some of the eighth graders who attended) related what a great time they had working during the day and exploring NOLA (New Orleans) during the evenings. They planted, carried and spread mulch and gravel, cleaned bathrooms and kitchens, held alligators. One day they had to get back to the hotel using Uber after the taxi service would not pick them up in one of the 9th Ward neighborhoods they were working in.  The students certainly seemed to come away from their experience with insight and a renewed sense of purposeful volunteerism.

The cost of this NOLA trips was about $2400.00 each for quadruple occupancy.  Donations help offset the costs for those with less resources but are just as deserving. Summer opportunities in Alaska are scheduled.

SaLT Students taking time to smile for the camera!

Many thanks to Bill Pigati for his help with this week's bulletin!

What's up next week for our Club:
