Sept. 18 Meeting Summary

Program: We hosted our first ever “Heads Up, Evanston” networking luncheon on Sept. 18 and it went very well...We had an excellent turnout -- roughly 80 people attended, altogether. We heard 28 “mini commercials” over the space of an hour, from a wide mix of local not-for-profit organizations -- ranging from Northwestern University and the Evanston Public Library to Next Theatre and the Harbour.

The announcements we heard were delivered with a mix of passion, inspiration, humor and creativity, and helped reinforce how important relationship-building is in Evanston. Feedback from the participants was excellent and we have already established new connections with organizations who want to visit the club and work together with us in the future.

We learned all kinds of interesting tidbits during the meeting, ranging from information about the Evanston Community Foundation’s next Snapshot Evanston program (Oct 23, 8:30am-2:30 pm. $75) to the Evanston History Center’s newly renovated facilities to the latest on the Evanston Art Center’s transition out of the Harley mansion on Sheridan Road and into new headquarters. Lots going on with our peer organizations!

Many thanks to everyone from the club who helped make this a success, including our registration-table crew, Dave Stumpf, Tracy Tebear, April Jensen and Abby McNear and our greeters, Adam Doty, Michele Berg, Diane Claussen, and Brian King. Great microphone handling by Mark Steele and Brian King, timekeeping by Dave and Tracy, and of course, wonderful photos by Karen Kring.

Visiting Rotarians: John Robertson, Chicago Financial District Rotary Club.
