Service, Fellowship and Fun! - picture from Mystery Trip

Since 1988, it has been part of my life's journey to be a Member of Rotary.  Often you will meet a Rotarian who has belonged to a Club for multiple decades, but I am one of the few that has been a member of six different clubs as career opportunities relocated me.  With each club  there were varied  experiences and then of course some constants. I would like to share a few of my perspectives with you.

Each of us seek ways to define our existence on this earth and how we can make a difference.  In my President Installation Address to our Club on June 28, I talked about my lifelong mission of filling in the dash between the day I was born and whatever point in time I leave this world.  Rotary has provided an incredible "Avenue" for me to volunteer in meaningful service and hopefully make a difference.  It has enriched my life by making me a better servant leader through opportunity and association with truly remarkable leaders.  And finally, it has opened the door to life-long friendships with the highest quality of people that I could ever hope to relate to.

Our motto of "Service above Self" is a perfect fit for any of us who strive to be servant leaders in our profession or personal life.  Rotary is built upon "Avenues of Service" which appropriately provides options that capture the interest of Rotarians as they  seek to serve.  Whether it be for a certain age cohort, local or internationally, Rotary provides great choices for serving and volunteering.

Barrington Breakfast Rotary was sponsored to become a new club by the existing Barrington Noon Rotary Club over 25 years ago.  It provided an alternative meeting time and an alternative club culture to be established.   In our 25 year history, many fine people have been Members and made a difference in Barrington and beyond.  Our Breakfast Club has a unique age, culture, gender and interest mix.  The common bonds are genuine friendships, commitment to service and constant desire to have Fun!

If you are looking to add something special to your life, come to a Thursday meeting and feel the warm embrace of our unique club.  In no time, you will want to join and further define your life's journey.

Yours in Service and Rotary,
President David Loop
