ImageWith the success of our Rotary Santa Run, our club has had the ability to have a huge impact on the lives of people both domestically and internationally.

This year our club helped those affected by the wildfires of Colorado and by those impacted by the devastation created by Hurricane Sandy. We supported Heifer International’s mission to work with communities to end hunger and poverty and care for the Earth. We sponsored two Shelter Boxes that delivered emergency shelter, warmth and dignity to people affected by disaster worldwide.

We helped provide the experience of a life time by sponsoring a Crystal Lake High School student, Virginia Nelson, for her student exchange trip to Brazil.

We continued in our efforts to eradicate polio. Since the PolioPlus program’s inception in 1985, more than two billion children have received the oral polio vaccine. With the support from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Rotary is determined to eradicate polio once and for all.

The club has continued to focus its attention on the school in Ak’tenamit, Guatemala, helping provide a better life and future for those fortunate enough to attend the school. We have coupled our resources with Engineers Without Borders to support a water project.

Finally, we are going to finish the year by hosting a Group Study Exchange (GSE) team from India. This will give us the opportunity to work with the Lake Zurich Club and the newly chartered Arlington Heights Sunset Club to show case our communities while providing a once in a life time vocational experience for our guests.
