Editor’s Note:  The members of rotary are a very diverse group. We come from all over the world, and we come from right here in Brazoria County. We have different backgrounds, experience and skills and when we join them together, amazing things happen. As we are joining together to do good in the community, we thought it would be great to feature members of Rotary.  Allow us to introduce you to Obinna “Obi” Ononobi. Obi is one of the newest Rotarians to join the Brazosport Rotary Club. We reached out to Obi to learn a little bit more about his career path, motivation, family and hobbies.  Welcome Obi to the Club!

What do you do and what was your career path that brought you here?
I am the Administrator of Operations and Marketing at Altus Lake Jackson Center. My career path has mostly meant I have stayed in the classroom. I attended university for eight years where I obtained my MBA and Masters of Hospital Administration (MHA).

What do you love most about your job?
I love having the opportunity to work with and influence my employees on a daily basis. I also enjoy having the chance to be a blessing to patients that have financial issues and burdens when it comes to receiving healthcare.

Did you grow up in Brazoria County?
No, I am fairly new to the community, I have only been here for about 4 months.

What is something interesting the Rotary club should know about you?
I am originally from Nigeria and I won a visa lottery to come to the United States.

Why did you join rotary?
I was forced! Just kidding, I saw the good that men like Kenny and Walter were doing. I was impressed and wanted to join an organization that benefited and cared for the community, not just themselves.

What motivates you?
The idea of failing. I want to learn from failures and ensure that those mistakes are not made again.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time? Hobbies?
I enjoy exercising and playing sports. I played football in college, but really enjoy basketball.

Can you tell us a little bit about your family?
I have five siblings, four sisters and a brother. I am number 3 out of the six children.
