Highlights of February 24 Meeting

 
May be an image of 6 people and textThe focus of the meeting was an introduction and review of a variety of Club resources that are available to Club members. Among these are the Club website https://superrotary.com/ and the Club FaceBook page - https://www.facebook.com/SuperRotarySome of the features discussed included how Club members can update their personal information on the Club website and review who the upcoming speakers are slated to be.
 
 
Highlights of February 17 Meeting
 
We were excited to induct 2 new members into the Club! As part of the meeting, each new member shared some background and/or interesting tidbits about their lives and/or experiences, which was a great opportunity for the other Club members to become better acquainted with them. Welcome to the Club, Natalie and Steve!
 
 
Natalie Ackerly (along with Torrie, her 4-legged buddy) has been involved as a 'Pet Therapy Team' member at Gateway Airport for the past 3 years. 'Gateway AVIATORS C.A.R.E.' Team (Canines Around Relaxing Everyone) - handlers and their dogs roam the passenger terminal during periods of peak flight activity to help de-stress and relax passengers. In addition, handlers are trained and assist passengers with airport questions and directions. C.A.R.E. Team members and their dogs volunteer for a minimum of two hours weekly.
 
Steve Gorman has previously been a Rotary member in another Club for about 10 years. Born in North Dakota, after graduating from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, he joined his family's 4th generation cabinet making business. Moving to Minnesota, he and his wife raised 4 children, and he got involved in the flour milling business, becoming VP of Sales at Cargill's flour milling division (largest privately held corporation in the United States). During his extensive business travels, he and his wife found and loved Arizona -- and ended up living in the Gold Canyon area.
 
 
 
 
Highlights of February 10 Meeting
 
Carole Kralicek has accepted the role of Superstition Mountain Rotary Club president for the 2022-23 Rotary year, and was approved by a vote of all members present. She will join the board as president-elect on July 1, 2021. Thanks for your willingness to serve, Carole!
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Our speaker was Dr. Krista Anderson, Superintendent of Apache Junction Unified School District. Dr Anderson shared the District's 'Strategic Plan & Focus Group Discussion' the challenges the District is facing, and things the District is doing well. She asked for feedback from Club members regarding skills, strengths, and traits they feel are important for graduating students to possess.
 
 
Highlights of February 3 Meeting
 
Our speaker was Angie Jankie, Independent Wine Consultant for 'Wineshop at Home', a licensed, bonded direct-to-consumer winery located in Napa Valley, California. Angie conducts in-home and virtual private guided wine tastings. Angie mentioned a variety of things she tells participants, including the "4 Ss" (sight, swirl, smell and sip) and the temperature at which wine should be served.
