The Rotary Club of Wappingers Falls recognized the March Students of the Month. Nicky Gaetani from Roy C. Ketcham High School, Ariela Zhinin Alvarez from Wappingers Junior High School, Christian Hay from Evans Elementary School, Maverick Padavan from Myers Corners Elementary School and Josue Quezada Auquilla from Sheafe Road Elementary. We also recognized Aleena Gonzalez from Roy C. Ketcham High School as February student of the month. Each student received a certificate of recognition and a gift certificate to Barnes and Noble from the Rotary Club, a gift certificate from Longobardi's and a certificate from Town of Wappinger and Village of Wappingers Falls. Congratulations to all!

We are hosting a brand new fundraiser! Our shoe drive is starting on Monday, March 18th to April 22d to raise money for the club's community programs. Rotary Club of Wappingers Falls will earn funds based on the total quantity of gently worn, used, and new sneakers collected. As you are starting to spring clean or just don’t want to throw your old shoes in the garage, drop them off to any of the following locations: NBT Bank in Fishkill (701 RT 9, Fishkill) and Poughkeepsie (11 Garden St, Poughkeepsie), Wappinger Town Hall (20 Middlebush Rd, Wappingers Falls), ReStore of Habitat Dutchess (1822 South Road, Wappingers Falls) and Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home (55 East Main St, Wappingers Falls). We are accepting Running, Basketball, Gym & Training, Lifestyle & Casual sneakers ONLY. Thank you for your support!

Rotary Club of Wappingers Falls donated $750 to the Friends of Spook Hill Foundation to help them make additional purchases for the park. RCK Interact Club has also donated $250. Pictured below is Club President Todd Bowen and President of the Spook Hill Foundation, Randy Ross.

Thank you to Chris Steber from the NYS Bridge Authority for coming to our Rotary meeting and speaking to us about the NYS Bridge Authority and the history of the Bear Mountain Bridge. If you didn’t know the Bear Mountain Bridge is turning 100 years old this year!

This week’s guest speaker was Doug Sturomski with the Peace Bell Foundation. Rotarians were able to learn more about the Peace Bell Foundation, about peace in the world and ring some bells.

Rotary Club of Wappingers Falls inducted a new corporate member into the club today sponsored by Rotarian Lynn Doremus. We are happy to have Dillion Copeland, Home Finder for Berkshire Farm Center & Services for Youth join us, along with Anna!

Today’s guest speaker was Maria from Unshattered. Unshattered is a 501(c)3 social enterprise located in the Town of Wappinger. They are an accessory company creating beautiful, one of a kind bags from upcycled fabrics, handcrafted by women who are winning their fight against addiction. https://unshattered.org.

 Thursdays (1/11/24) guest speaker was Bob Juras with ChargeSmart EV. Rotarians learned about all electric/hybrid vehicles and about charging stations.

Yesterday, the Rotary Club of Wappingers Falls welcomed Jeremy Angevine back into the club! Jeremy returns as a corporate member with Edward Jones- Financial Advisor: Jeremy Angevine and his addition designee, Christine.

 

It was a busy month for the Rotary Club of Wappingers Falls. Rotarians recognized the December Students of the Month, hosted a lunch for DiMarco Place Seniors and sung carols, hosted a food drive and grocery/gift shopped for our adopt a family program. The Rotary Club of Wappingers Falls was also awarded the 2023 Unsung Hero Award by the Wappingers Falls Business and Professional Association. Lastly, many Rotarians were also thanked for always going above and beyond delivering meals on wheels.

Yesterday the Rotary Club of Wappingers Falls was recognized as the Wappingers Falls Business & Professional Association 2023 Unsung Heros. We are truly honored to be recognized and proud to serve the Wappingers Falls community.

Some of our Rotarians had some fun this morning, grocery shopping for our adopt a family program. This year the Rotary Club of Wappingers Falls adopted 9 families from Evans, Sheafe and Myers Corners Elementary Schools.

The Rotary Club of Wappingers Falls hosted a lunch at Longobardi’s Restaurant for the DiMarco Place Seniors. Rotarians also had a special surprise for them which was singing Christmas carols after lunch! Thank you to Rotarian Stan Straub for organizing this event and to Claudio, Owner of Longobardi’s for giving each senior a meal to take home with them. Happy Holidays!!

Today’s guest speaker was Anthony Mazzocchi with Manorwood Homes. Manorwood Homes offers modular homes from Maine to North Carolina. Manorwood Homes also works closely with Habitat for Humanity of Dutchess County as their modular home provider.
