Rotary: Evening Meeting - Guest Speaker Mika

Siv Mika (Mika) is from Norway. She was educated in economy and trade and has worked with the worst inmates in the Norwegian penal system as a Prison Warden and Psychologist. Mika left correctional work 22 years ago and has since been engaged in humanitarian work on the Island of Hispaniola. 

 

Mika was working in Haiti during their massive earthquake and shortly thereafter focused her work on serving the poor in the Dominican Republic. Mika is the Founder and project leader of the volunteer organization, Amigitos, which is a labour of love that requires a persistent presence in the Puerto Plata. She is very excited to tell us about the people Amigito's serves and her plans to improve the life of everyone in the village of Pancho Mateo.
