Grace Lloyd has lived in Kirkland for 16 years, attended Juanita Elementary School and Finn Hill Middle School, and now is graduating from Juanita High School. Grace says she loves performing and has earned multiple performance awards for Thespy's, the school's annual drama competition. She recently finished a run of Into the Woods at Juanita High, staring as the Witch. In fall of 2022, Grace will be attending Brigham Young University, for which she excited! After her first year of college, she wants to serve a religious mission. Once she returns, she will decide on her major, and wants to study either Music Dance Theater or East Asian Languages. She likes all languages, but is especially fascinated by East Asian languages.Grace reports she is part Filipina, so Asian culture feels like home. She grew up memorizing Ghibli films, folding lumpia with her family and spending Saturday mornings at Uwajimaya. Every nook and cranny in her room is stuffed with flashcards, posters, and composition books dedicated to character systems. Ultimately, she would love to be an interpreter for North Korean refugees. Grace was awarded a $2,500 Rotary Scholarship.
