The Rotary Club of Kirkland held a meeting on June 13, 2022 at the Courtyard by Marriott hotel.
 
President Dave DeBois rang the bell at 6:16 p.m., calling the club meeting to order.
 
John Pruitt led the membership in the Pledge of Allegiance.

A special guest Rotarian was attending this evening Jim Moore of the Seattle 4 club, and his guest Modestine from Zambia who updated members on the multi-million dollar Malaria project in Zambia that Rotary has sponsored with over $6 million dollars to date.  Kirkland Rotary International Committee voted to donate money to this cause in 2021.

Our greeters this evening were Gary Cohn, Rick Walter and Jim Meniketti, who were at the front desk to greet attendees, collect dinner fees, and distribute Duck Dash ticket envelopes.

Dave DeBois announced the next board meeting, June 16, will be a combined meeting of 2021-2022 current board and the incoming 2022-2023 board.
 
Joanne Primavera attended the Rotary conference in Houston, Texas.  Joanne shared the opportunities she had to meet Rotarians from around the U.S., to be a guest in a local Rotarian’s home, and to attend the District 5030 social event.
 
While in Texas, Joanne attended a presentation during Home Hospitality Night. There was a presentation by Galveston Distillery of Vodka.  Joanne brought a bottle of the vodka for Dave DeBois.
 
Program:
 
The program this evening was Outstanding Educator Awards Night.  Gary Cohn introduced each of the awardees and their principals and asked them to come forward to receive their honors and for the principals to say a few words about these elementary school staff members.
