Visit Portsmouth Colored Community Library Museum

Join Dr. Steve Jones to visit Portsmouth's the Portsmouth Colored Comunity Library Museum -- the city's newest museum. You will learn about the role this small historic building played in the life of Portsmouth's African-American citizens from 1945 to 1963 when it served citizens who could not use their city's main library due to segregation. The museum, which is operated by the City of Portsmouth, features exhibits highlighting African-American life in Portsmouth. The museum opened in 2013 and is in downtown Portsmouth. Parking is right by the building.
