Please contact Gary if you or someone you know would like to help sponsor the District Conference.

Why be a District Conference Sponsor?

What would a sponsorship contribute to Rotary and our community?

  • Setting the stage for Future Foundation giving.  We are doing a Foundation reception will thank our donors for the contributions they have made and set the stage for a Million Dollar Dinner that will set a new standard for giving in our District.  This is the first time we’re ever had a free event to thank our donors and give them a sense of what their donations have accomplished.   A sponsorship for this Conference could help generate $500,000 of giving.  Without the additional sponsorship, we can’t afford to pull this off.

  • Help get 5,000 people CPR trained in the next six months…and most likely save at least one life in the next year.  Your donation will support a CPR event that is aiming to get 1,000 people trained at the Conference…and 4,000 more over the next six months.  How will this happen?  We have purchased 1,000 training kits that we will donate back to the Red Cross to enable them to train 4,000 people at no charge over the next six months.

  •  Why does this matter?  Because the survival rate from sudden cardiac arrest in our area is less than 10%.  This is not because we have bad first responders.  It’s because when the first responders arrive, only 30% of the time are any of the bystanders doing anything.  If we could do as cities such as Boston and Seattle and dramatically raise the percentage of people trained in CPR, we could also raise our survival rate to 50%...which would save 450 lives in our area every year.

  • Help protect the lives of 5,000 children.  Your donation will help shelter the lives of children through support of the kick-off of the WHALE project in our area.  The best way to frame this project is the story of Jill Schmidt from Geneva, NE, who will speak at the Conference.  Her sister and brother were driving somewhere with their three and five-year old children.  They had a horrific accident and the parents died.

Because the first responders couldn’t identify custody for the children, they went into state care.It took Jill two weeks to get custody of her niece and nephew from the State and she decided she didn’t want that to ever happen to anyone else. The WHALE project is something simple, but powerful. An information sticker is placed on the back of the child seat and little WHALE stickers are placed on the rear windows.

When first responders see those stickers, they know they have the information they need to save those children additional trauma. We have engaged a number of community organizations, including Child Saving Institute and Nebraska Families Collaborative and between them and the Rotarians, we’ll distribute the first 5,000 of the kits to kick off WHALE in Omaha, Council Bluffs, and Lincoln….kits that we are donating through the Conference to jump start this effort.

This Conference is about encouraging people to embrace the Power of One that lies inside their hearts and minds.  It is about setting a vision that will help us redefine Rotary in a changing world.

Why should you be a sponsor?  Because sponsoring this event will help inspire Rotarians and make a strong and lasting impact on our community.
