A big thank s to Marilyn Park for donating her 3 minutes of fame at this weeks meeting to bring us an update from our 2012 Bids 4 Kids beneficiary, Society for the Blind.

Shari Roeseler's message:
Our eyesight affects how we perceive and interpret the world.  It is used every day for communication, pursuing professional goals, caring for other and for ourselves.  When people learn they are losing their eyesight, they are devastated.   Society for the Blind is here for just that purpose.

Society's efforts range from a focus on workforce development for youth and adults to keeping seniors with vision loss safe and active.

Society's state of the are teaching facility and low vision clinic is located in midtown Sacramento.  They provide direct services to 6,000 people yearly.  By 2020, they anticipate that number will double.  Society plans to be poised to meeting the need through the launch of their Vision2020 campaign so anyone experiencing vision loss has a place to go for support and education and can continue to live life to the fullest.

Leading their efforts are Rotarians Marilyn Park and Allison Otto.
