Rotarians, "We pitched our tents, shouldered our picks and shovels and with pan in hand sallied forth to try our fortunes at gold digging. We did not have very good success being green at mining, but by practice and observation we soon improved some, and found a little of the shining metal." -- A letter home written by Sheldon Shufelt dated 1850, now in the Library of Congress. There are still a few spaces left if you would like to participate in the Rotary Club of Sacramento Mystery Trip on Saturday, May 7th. Our brave band of 49ers will gather at the Rotary Office between 7:30AM and 8:00AM for a tailgate Continental breakfast. We depart promptly at 8:00AM for a day of fun and adventure. For $65 dollars (or, a few gold nuggets) you will receive a Continental breakfast, transportation, admission to places of historic interest, 3 course gourmet lunch, and a presentation. In the afternoon adult beverages will be available for purchase. Plan to wear casual clothing such as jeans and walking shoes. The activity level is not strenuous so this adventure is appropriate for Rotarians (and prospectors) of all ages. We plan to return to Sacramento around 3:00PM. Leesa Fons - Event Chair |

Dear Rotarians, Everyone gets to be "Out By The Pool" this Son's Day! What a better way to spend next Tuesday than relaxing in the courtyard of the Red Lion with your fellow Rotarians? And, who doesn't enjoy live entertainment? We want our sons to know that in addition to being an exemplary service organization, Rotary is a wonderful place to make friends that are talented and caring members of your community. Dear District 5180 Member, Last year the Rotary Club of Sacramento (RCOS) hosted the 1st Annual Pony Express Marathon. Many Clubs in our District participated in a wide variety of ways. This year we hope to have even more of the Clubs get involved. Some Clubs donated funds, others worked the event as volunteers and 8-10 came out and joined us in “Rotary Village” to promote Rotary throughout the area. Last year, my wife Diann and I visited almost every Club in the District but this year we are unable to do so. I would like to invite a representative (or 2) from your Club to join us at the RCOS Training Center located at 1451 River Park Drive, Training room #280 on Wednesday October 12, 2016 at 6pm to discuss how your Club can benefit from participating in this event. Please RSVP to staff at the RCOS office and let us know if you will be sending a representative. Thanks for considering this opportunity and letting me know if you will meet with me. Sincerely,
Dave Cohen Rotary Club of Sacramento Immediate Past President
