Volunteers Needed at TCAPs food distribution sites for Born to Read Gift of Books donations for children
Born to Read Gift of Books with TCAPs food distribution sites is in need of volunteers. Books will be given to children on the following days at the following sites, 11:00 AM to 1:00PM
- Mondays Aug 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 at Silver Lake Elementary
- Wednesday Aug 5, 12, 19, 26 at Traverse Heights Elementary
- Fridays Aug 7, 14, 21, 28 at Long Lake Elementary
Action ~ To give books out for children of families who are receiving meals at the site and book marks for parents to read and children to use, support for literacy in our community.
Set up ~ All materials will be ready for volunteers each day, TCAPs is providing a table, Born to Read’s banner will be displayed and books will be in labeled boxes for each age group.
Process ~ Volunteers greet parents/ caregivers as they stay in car, ask ages of children at home, return to the table to choose appropriate books for children at home, give bookmark and books to adult in car.
One volunteer at each site is sufficient, however please feel free to bring a friend.
COVID-19 requirements
- We are not to enter the building
- Wear masks and keep 6 feet from others
- Gloves will be provided
- All books will be ‘resting’ prior to the Gift of Books
