We are holding an event you should be aware of on April 19, 2017 at the Kings Park High School. - The End Hunger in Kings Park program.

We have partnered with Outreach, a non-profit organization, which will help us create an assembly line in our school cafeteria. In this assembly line, we will pack nutritious non-perishable ready to cook meals, which will be provided to local food pantries and soup kitchens, as well as directly to public school students who do not have reliable access to food.

If you would like to donate your time, please join us for two hours (half hour of setup, an hour of packing and a half hour of breakdown and cleanup). In that time, you will work at an assembly table that will make about 1,800 meals. That’s 150 meals per volunteer, per hour.

The food and materials provided by Outreach come at a cost of $40.00 per volunteer, or $480.00 per assembly table. This works out to approximately 25 cents per nutritious meal distributed to a hungry child! So even if you don’t have the time to join us yourself, please sponsor a volunteer or two, so that the students in Interact may pack as many meals as we can get the workforce for.

If you’re in a position to, sponsor an entire table, and for $480.00 you will feed 1,800 hungry Long Islanders. If that’s a bit much, sponsor half a table. Or a quarter. No contribution is too small or too big, as the number of working assembly tables depends on our community’s support.

We are working on this project together with the Commack-Kings Park Rotary Club and with help from the Commack High School Interact Club, the East Northport Rotary Club and the Hauppauge Rotary Club.

To volunteer, come to the Kings Park High School on April 19th at 2pm. Follow the signs from the main entrance. You won't be able to miss us!

Anyone who has the two hours to contribute, please come join us. It's probably the most worthwhile thing you can do with a Saturday morning. Whether or not you have the time to volunteer, please contribute some funds. This is by far the best bang for your charitable giving dollars, with each 25 cents you give providing a nutritious meal to a local food insecure family. Join in. One way or another. It really is worth it!

Thank you for all of your support! Thanks again!
