Several years ago our Sunup Rotary Club partnered with the Rotary Club in Naivasha, Kenya, using a Rotary Foundation Global Grant, to drill a water well and create a water distribution system that would benefit a school, along with more than 3,000 residents of a Maasai village. Due to a number of complications, the project has taken more time than expected to complete, along with a much larger financial investment by our partner club. This summer, during the time our Interact Ambassadors to Kenya were being hosted by the Naivasha Rotary Club, the water from the new well the club had paid to drill finally flowed.
It is a rare occasion when international partners in such a project have the opportunity to personally meet. However, that is going to be our great privilege when some members of the Navaisha Rotary and Rotaract Clubs will be our special guests at our club meeting on November 28. Since visa approvals are still pending, we are not yet certain of the number that will be coming, but we believe there will be 6 - 15 in the group, which is expected to be touring and hosted by Rotary clubs here in Arizona between Nov. 20 - 30, before they return to Kenya. We expect to have more details about their schedule and home hosting opportunities within the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, be sure to mark your calendar, and plan to attend this very special club meeting on November 28.
