On Tuesday we will enjoy our annual Christmas Party and celebrate the end of our calendar year, plus the end of the first half of our Rotary Year.
I am honored to have served these past six months, and I look forward to the next six. Please continue helping me as you have already done so far!
I am grateful for the surprise gifts that we have received this year, which include funds from a few anonymous donors (you know who you are) that have enabled us to spread our service message far and wide and for the efforts of Sherman Wildman, who has lined up a stellar list of interesting speakers for our lunch programs.
Inducted last Tuesday was HEIKO FAASS(Investment Banking) CEO of Ferrer Faass & Co. LLC. Heiko, past president of the Santurce Club, was sponsored by Telin Fernandez.
Each year, the March of Dimes selects families, children and celebrities whose life was saved by March of Dimes research, programs, or educational campaigns to give a face to the mission or who have a passion to help all families have stronger, healthier babies. These Ambassadors travel the U.S. throughout the year to share his or her story and encourage families and companies to join in making sure all babies get a healthy start in life by participating in March for babies and other special events.
Our special guest, Ismael Torres-Castrodad, this year's National Ambassador, was born five weeks too soon and developed a lung infection, jaundice and pneumonia. His mother, who accompanied Ismael, turned to the March of Dimes and received information to educate herself. Today, Ismael is a happy, healthy 13 year old who gets straight A's, loves playing soccer and smgmg.
-- Ismael loves sharing his story and talking about the March of Dimes, and he does an amazing job doing so. A highlight of his year as spokesperson was meeting President Obama in the Oval Office.
