Medical Director of the Llorens Torres Health Clinic, Dr. Guillermo Otero-Hermann, gave a spirited talk on his work with the 15,000 residents of the public housing community in Llorens. After a long career in public health, Dr. Otero was tapped to take on the demanding task of providing quality care for one of the largest low-income projects in the US. Built in 1954, Llorens has 2,500 units and has seen 3-4 generations grow up there. Our speaker is a product of the University of Puerto Rico undergraduate and Medical Schools. He is also a retired Baptist Minister, serving for 18 years. Thanks go to Dr. Johnny Rullan who brought us our enjoyable speaker.
San Juan Rotary lost a longtime friend, frequent visitor and repeat guest speaker on June 11, when Joaquin Posada passed away. The revered motivational speaker and author of "Don't Eat the Marshmallow, Yet" was a Miami Rotarian, but over the last more than a decade, attended meetings with San Juan Rotary and befriended many in the Club. He will be sadly missed.
