Happy Bucks:
  • Chris Parkinson: Team travels tomorrow and thankful for David Gazaway to get up early and help drive them to Logan
  • Steve DeStefano - Quick fun story about how both his parents were Republicans but he was a child of the 60’s & 70’s so naturally he became a Democrat.
  • David Farr - Really thankful for these Friday mornings.  As we all get older, life becomes a lot, but these mornings are refreshing.
  • Jerry Kingwill was proud to be able to vote for the first time as he is now a US citizen.
  • Dick Swett was thankful for Dave Scanlan for joining his luncheon with the visiting Danish group here to study our election process.
  • Jon Ruggles had a fun story about talking about the trades with a charter school and his granddaughter.
  • Durwood Sargent shared a story about being interviewed after he voted.
  • Peter Imse commented on how smooth the voting at the poles went and how proud and glad he is to have been a part of it for so many years.
  • Dave Scanlan was very happy with how our First in the Nation Primary’s went and laughed about how his phone and door were a revolving door of interviews, and as soon as it was over there was just silence.  He also said Peter Imse is the best moderator in the state!
  • Mike Gula commented on how smooth the voting went & apologized for being late.
  • Linda Bliss was happy she doesn’t have to travel to Boston for now for her retina issues, at least for a while.
  • Tamar Roberts was excited she could create some extra positions on her Church vestry so all that wanted to be part of it could be.
  • Donna Deos Reminded us that there is a mental health session Sunday at 7pm.
  • Tanya fined Gerry Carrier as he interrupted happy bucks with questions LOL. He gave $2, assuming he might do it again.
Program:
A classification talk was given by Judy Goodnow
  • She is 2nd of 5 children in a military family.
  • Moved 10 times by the time she was in her sophomore year.
  • Went to law school in the evenings and worked in corporate trust during the day.
  • The women weren’t made to feel very welcome at school, but in the end out of 67 men, 11 graduated, but all 6 women did!
  • 1978 she moved to NH with her son Griff, who was 7 months old.
  • She worked for the state and she was a legal and legislative consultant
  • This is around the time she met Karen Wadsworth
  • There was an editorial in the Union Leader when she was fighting for gay couples to be able to be foster parents.  She unfortunately received a lot of hate mail for this.
  • She did this for 11-12 years and then went to work for Amoskeag Bank where she survived a couple of takeovers.  She ventured to Citizens and then Cambridge Trust in Concord.  Through all of the moves she had a strong client base following that she had built a lot of trust with.
  • She first joined Rotary in New London and enjoyed their chicken BBQ luncheon during Hospital Days.
  • Her grandfather was also a Rotarian and she was a scholarship recipient.
  • She joined the Bow Rotary in 2004-2005 and since then has been on ALL of the committees at some point, but thinks the Auction will be a lifetime assignment. LOL
  • She spear headed and worked many hours, along with others, on the Old Town Hall project.  During her presidency, she worked with the Men’s Club to add the ADA Ramp. And for the 50th Anniversary worked with the Historical Commission to fix/update the OTH.  This was quite the project due to the walls, which is why we have the ‘picture rail’ around the Hall to hang things, as the walls are fragile.
  • She did 125 miles at El Comino with her sister Portia
  • She was on the Concord Library board, President of the SPCA board and MANY more… I couldn’t capture them all.
  • Now retired, but enjoys the boards she is on, like the Baker Free Library
  • Also on the Finance Committee for St. Paul’s.
  • She tries to get to Booth Bay as often as she can.
  • Loves Mahjong and being a part of this Club
Respectfully Submitted,
Tanya Frost
