"Careers for the Innovative and Inventive": Rotary Career Day 2018

Hundreds of Grade 9 students will interact with industry professionals on Monday, April 16 when the Rotary Clubs of Kingston, St. Andrew and St. Catherine stage their annual Career Day at the Worthington, Spanish Court in New Kingston. Under the theme “Careers for the Innovative and Inventive”, the event seeks to provide expert career guidance to students who are about to select their subjects in preparation for the CXC Examinations.

Event Chairman Gareth Manning, President of the Rotary Club of Trafalgar New Heights, explained that the theme is in keeping with Jamaica’s “Vision 2030” which requires that we seek out and support the entrepreneurial talents and creativity of our people. He noted that speakers at the event will introduce students to careers that require them to seek, learn, generate, and apply scientific and technological knowledge.

Rotary Clubs of Kingston, St. Andrew and St. Catherine are urged to support and participate in this year’s Career Day which is in keeping with The New Generation, Rotary’s fifth avenue of service that engenders and endorses the cause for youth development and the positive impact that an investment in youth realises.

Last year’s Rotary Career Day catered to 260 grade nine students from 11 secondary schools in Jamaica who explored career choices under the theme “Careers for the Digital Age”.
