Rotarians Put the Fun in Fundraising
On Saturday Evening, Rotarians Frank and President Dawn serviced tables at Lauren's Restaurant in Buckingham Square for a sold out evening of great food and fellowship. The two of them raised $2120 to be shared between Rotary and Feed Our Future.
It was Ian and Sian Adams' tenth anniversary that night and ever the romantic, Sian brought yellow roses for her guests. Alas, our stalwart Rotarian was felled with the flu and the couple weren't able to attend. The roses still found homes with ladies that night, and sent a wish and a thank you to our anniversary couple.
Rotaractors Join Rotary
P.P. Welcomes P.P.
Last week Past President Christine sponsored Past President of Rotaract, Matthew Seales to become a member of our club.
When a Rotaractor reaches 30 they can join Rotary automatically.Earlier this year the council on legislation overwhelmingly approved allowing Rotaractors to simultaneously be a member of a Rotary club. The thought is that this will pave the way for more Rotaractors with proven leadership skills to make the transition into Rotary. It is said that some Rotaractors are reluctant to leave their Rotaract club before they reach age 30, because they don't want to miss the friends they've made in Rotaract. Also, some former Retractors find it difficult to get a Rotary club to invite them as a member. Currently only about 5% will transition to Rotary, and the thought is that this change will move that number close to 50%.

D.G. Haresh to Visit Cayman
Our District Governor Haresh Ramchandani will be visiting Cayman from July 20 to 24 as part of his tour of all Rotary Clubs in the district. To help celebrate his visit, the next regular meeting on July 20th will be cancelled and you and your significant other and guests are invited to a joint club happy hour to meet the DG and to enjoy fellowship with the family of Rotary in Cayman.
Happy Hour will be held on Friday, 22nd July at the Westin, 5:30 to 7:30pm, and the dress code for the evening will be business or island casual.
There is also an overnight trip to the Brac scheduled for Wednesday the 20th - if anyone is interested in joining in the visit with our sister club please do. DG Haresh will fly over to the Brac on Wednesday afternoon, enjoy fellowship with Rotary Cayman Brac at their 7:30 pm meeting, and everyone is planning to return to Grand Cayman the following day on the 9am flight.
