An amazing , fulfilling and rewarding day spent at the "Penn Pratt Co Ed School" located at the Simpson Penn School for Boys yesterday, as the members of RCNP engaged in living out Rotary's mantra "Service Above Self". RCNP members engaged a group of young men in the art of building benches, and on completion, the young ladies varnished them. The day begun with the building of the benches, while the ladies of the Club conducted mentoring sessions to the young ladies on Careers, Our Choices and Life Lessons. It was then time to take to the play fields for games including Sack races, Egg n Spoon, Apple Bobbing, and we ended with a Volleyball competition between the Co Ed School and RCNP members. An exciting match that resulted in the Penn Pratt Co Ed School winning 2 games to nil, but, an excellent display of team spirits by all.

The call for lunch was echoing from the grill, and what an awesome spread of delicious hamburgers, cheeseburgers, chips, drinks and candies. Those youngsters could surely put it down! But the treats did not end there as RCNP surprised all the youngsters who celebrated birthdays from January to June with a scrumptious birthday cake and we all joined hands and sang "Happy Birthday ".

Then that time of the evening came to say goodbyes, and offer words of encouragement to the youngsters, some of whom spoke about the exciting day they had, career choices once they left their schools, and the many lessons they've learned.

We the members of the Rotary Club of New Providence have committed to partnering with the Co-Ed Institutions from a holistic approach to include on-going service projects, modernizing the Libraries and most importantly to mentor our youngsters so that they may have a productive return to society.

Awesome day in Rotary!!!
