DG Nick Frankle
District Governor's Visit

Nick Frankle joined the Rotary Club of Westlake Village Sunrise in 2002. He was club president in Rotary Year 2006-07. During his year as president, the club was selected the best medium club in District 5240 and the best large service organization in his home community of the Conejo Valley. He has also served his club as Club Service Chair, International Service Chair and Foundation Chair.

Nick has served District 5240 as an Assistant Governor and Executive Assistant Governor. He has also been Membership Chair, International Service Chair and Communications Chair. He was a member of the Zone 26 team implementing the Ignite Membership Initiative. In Rotary Year 2014-15, Nick and his wife Heather, a member of the Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise, served the District as Co-Chief Operating Officers.

Nick and Heather are Major Donors, Benefactors and members of the Bequest Society. Nick is also a member of the Paul Harris Society. They are both graduates of the District 5240 PRLS and Master PRLS leadership training programs. For RY 2012-13, Nick was the recipient of the District 5240 Samuel L. Greene Service Above Self award.

Nick was born in Washington, DC and grew up in the Maryland suburbs. He attended The Johns Hopkins University graduating with a BA in Physics. He worked summers as a computer programmer for NASA which led to an MS in Computer Science from the University of Maryland and a lifelong career in information technology and telecommunications. He has managed large information technology projects for the US government and Fortune 500 companies. He was the operations executive responsible for the first seamless international data communications network – a position that took him around the world and introduced him to the cultural differences of doing business in thirty countries. Today, he is a business unit manager for a high technology firm developing advanced predictive analytics technology for government and commercial use.

Nick holds a teaching credential in the California Community College system. He has taught college classes in Computer Science and has also taught classes to Non-Profit Organizations on the use of technology to reduce costs and increase fundraising.

Nick married Heather, his high school sweetheart, in February 1966. They celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary this year at the 2016 SoCal-Nevada PETS. Heather is a member of the Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise. She has served District 5240 in various leadership capacity including Global Grants Chair and Chief Operating Officer. She is the president-elect nominee of the Rotary Action Group for Microfinance and Economic Development.

Nick has participated in international projects in Mexico, Honduras and South Africa. He helped establish the District 5240 Rotary Safari program which encourages Rotarians to participate in international projects. He has seen how Rotarians change the world "one life at a time" while understanding that often the people most changed by humanitarian projects are the Rotarians themselves.
