Greetings from the Rotary Club of Thousand Oaks!
It is my great honor to serve as the President of our great organization in 2014 - 2015, our 56th year of existence. We are 130+ members, all local business / professional / retired volunteers serving our local, national and international communities through the Rotary International organization. Rotary International consists of over 1,200,000 members in over 34,000 Rotary Clubs internationally. We form a network of clubs supporting each other by carrying out joint projects throughout the world.
SERVICE ABOVE SELF is the motto we live by. Our volunteering efforts benefit dozens of local non-profit or educational organizations serving our youth, Seniors, disabled, and those in need in our communities. And through our Rotary International organization, we also partner with our fellow Rotary Clubs in other countries in programs that benefit people in need throughout the world. The Rotary Club of Thousand Oaks has recently participated/contributed to programs benefiting organizations in India, Mexico, Chile, Central America, and Africa, among others. And we are continually seeking out programs in need of support throughout the world.
In order to support these many local and international programs, our Club has 3 major fund-raisers per year. They are our Chili Cook-off and Classic Car Show in April, our Midsummer Wine Festival in August, and our Street Fair in October. Each of these events require the efforts of every member in our Club, plus additional volunteers.
Locally, we support over 40 local organizations such as the Alliance of the Arts, Boys and Girls Clubs, Cabrillo Music Theatre, Casa Pacifica, Community Conscience, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, Hospice of the Conejo, Kingsmen Shakespeare Company, LSS Community Care Centers, Manna, Make A Wish, Many Mansions, My Stuff Bags, Polio Plus, Reading is Fundamental, Senior Concerns, Student Scholarships, Teen Center, Conejo and Westminster Free Clinics, YMCA, and many more.
We welcome visitors and prospective members who would like to join us in our service projects. Our regular meetings are on Thursdays, start at 12 noon with a buffet lunch, and ends at 1:30 sharp to allow for our members to plan their days. We meet for service and fellowship at the Los Robles Greens Golf Course, Kendall Banquet Center at 299 S. Moorpark Rd., Thousand Oaks.
I welcome any calls or emails if you wish to obtain more information about Rotary in general, or about the Rotary Club of Thousand Oaks specifically. Come join in the fellowship and service of Rotary.
